Are you a fan of Knitted Wit? Me, too! Here are some easy ways you can support Knitted Wit!
1. Buy Yarn. Duh, right? That's the quickest way to keep us growing!

2. Create with the yarn you purchased! That's simple, too! Who doesn't want to cast on and get going with the new shiny project!

3. Get that yarn on your ravelry project page! When you add it to your stash it will pop up as an option for your next project. When you've started the latest greatest pattern Knitted Wit will pop up as an awesome yarn to use for other people searching through projects.
I'm ordering a bunch for knitty friends. I'll probably be stocking up on wrapping paper too! I got to see the mug in real life the other day, it's even better in person!

You can buy your mug here. Use the student code 140483. When you use this code my son gets the credit and so does his school. I can also see sales based on emails, so you'll be entered to win a skein of Cotton Candy or Victory Sock! Once you've used the student code to log in click on great gifts and home decor, the mug should front and center! There are loads of other fun things to buy of course.

So why this fundraiser? Our school is a Title I. We have free breakfast and lunch for all students. We are a high poverty school. The PTA is running this fundraiser to give money to each classroom. More is being allocated to the lower grades to be put towards field trips. While the PTA doesn't know about sales being turned in on paper, they can see their internet sales. So far only $700, which the school will get about 40% of. I know we've sold around $450 in mugs. Clearly, we need to sell a lot more!! This fundraiser closes on 10/9. If you purchase after that you can still choose our school and we'll get a smaller proceed, but anything helps! Im off to buy some mugs, wrapping paper, and who knows!!

Knitted Wit is moving out of my house and into a studio space! I am so excited I can't sit still! April 1st we'll be moving to a space in my neighborhood that will be perfect for Knitted Wit to continue growing in. Have I told you how small our house is? 760 square feet. With two adults, three kids, and a dog. Oh, and Knitted Wit. To say its cramped is a massive understatement. The space we're moving to is almost as big as our house, but it will just be Knitted Wit. I could gush all day really!

In order to afford moving and installing all the equipment necessary I'm doing an indiegogo campaign. A lot of my larger equipment won't work indoors or can't leave my house, like my washing machine. If you are so inclined, please check it out. There are some great perks to take advantage of. If you could let your knit night know too, that would be great!

One of the things I'm excited to offer at the new space is dye classes. You'll be able to come to the studio and see how it all works and then make variegated or semi-solid color yourself! And there's an old school pharmacy up the street with a fountain, hello milkshakes and root beer floats!

Another bit of quick news, mini skeins are in the shop! There's sweater kits here and here, flip through all the color options to see your choices. 20 and 40 color sets are also available.

A major thank you for your continued support. Today has been humbling with all the support of my passion.Lorajean Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13852682235061991141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552973362315723906.post-34664225942071468992014-03-08T17:25:00.001-08:002014-03-08T17:25:54.812-08:00I'd Like To Thank The Academy...Only a week late, but better late than never! And it's International Woman's Day so this fits perfectly! I've been wanting to write a thank you letter to all the people that have helped me and Knitted Wit get to where I am. I think about it every time I prepare for and have a successful show. I was further inspired by a tweet from Madeline Albright this morning. (Technology is amazing!) "In honor of Intl #WomensDay, go out of your way to help another woman. We must support each other in order to succeed." I want to thank all the people who have helped me succeed. And most of them have been women.

While it could be challenging to work in a female dominated industry for all the stereotypical reasons, I have been surrounded by incredible women. Women who believe that a rising tide lifts all boats. Women who have shared their experience and knowledge with me. With their help I have grown from a one woman show out of a basement, to my back patio, to having assistants, to now moving out of my house and into a studio. What an amazing journey!!

With the help of my incredible support network, your continued patronage, and my hard work Knitted Wit is growing up! I'm thrilled for this next step and all the possibilities it brings. In a few days I will be launching an indiegogo campaign to raise funds for the remaining expenses for this transition. Please join me in the next chapter of Knitted Wit!
I plan on passing on the generosity that has been given me. This book is beautiful. And heart breaking. It's gorgeously written and I felt my self sinking lower and lower into the book. So many layers to the story. When I got to a really hard part I flipped to the end of the book and read the Q & A with Rachael. Her inspiration was from her day job of 911 dispatch. Wanting to complete the story since she only sees a few minutes of often very difficult stories. As some one who likes to make up stories about everybody I pass by, I can totally understand wanting to wrap up a story. This helped me dig into the story a bit more, but wow did I get my heart broken. I even emailed Rachael to break up with her for a few days. We're back together, trying things out again, but it's a little touch and go.

Reading Pack Up The Moon is sort of like listening to a This American Life story. The story gently unfolds from multiple characters, explains the sorrow of how everyone got to their place in life, and how they will continue on. It felt like such a raw look into someone else's life, so intimate. When I'm done listening to an episode of This American Life I feel connected to humanity. I have grace and understanding for people. When I was done with Pack Up The Moon I felt the same connection. An understanding that everyone has been hurt, nobody escapes pain. And hopefully everyone has the chance to reconnect.

This book is not like any thing Rachael has written. Grab your box of kleenex, make a pot of tea, cozy up with your book and dig in.Lorajean Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13852682235061991141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552973362315723906.post-51386917399477619112014-02-01T19:47:00.003-08:002014-02-01T19:47:43.727-08:00Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!Thank you for all the lovely compliments on Debbi's pattern! The warmth was so good! While I was there Debbi Stone debuted a new pattern, Spring Mix, using my Single Fingering. It's a gorgeous pattern, a delicate lace that's easy to memorize.
thank you for the beautiful photo Debbi!

I have a skein to give and Debbi has generously offered to provide the pattern via Ravelry download. Hop over to her designer page and tell me which pattern you'd love to make. I'll draw two winners: one will get a kit to make Spring Mix, the second winner will get their favorite pattern from Debbi! Sounds like a win win win. I'll pick a winner Friday morning and ship out the yarn as soon as I have your address!

I don't care how the baby came to be with you, showering is important. We all feel better after one.

When we found out we were having our third baby I had some goals for postpartum to make it as easy for everybody as possible. One of my goals was showering everyday. Mainly for two reasons. The first one was I nurse. Milk is messy and everywhere in the first…while. And Frances is a spitter. And really, life is messy.

The other reason is more important I think. With the boys I felt like I couldn't take a break, the baby would need me, or Eric wouldn't be able to manage with out me. People! The world will not fall apart in the 20 minutes I'm in the shower. And yes, I take a 20 minute shower. I make sure that Frances is fed and then I don't feel like I'm mandatory while I shower. Eric can sooth, change a diaper, clothes or fix whatever ails her.

There are some days when I have to talk myself through this, that Eric is capable, I need the alone time, and Frances will live. I also think about what I am modeling to my family. That it's important to take care of myself, and they are a necessary part of the family. They have a role to play. When babies are so little, papas don't always play a large role. This is a way to force some bonding time.

So new papas, new mamas: shower! Help each other get that break! We call them showercations.

What are things you do for self care? Some stay at home parents I know have a standard of getting dressed to their socks so they're ready to go out the door. It is very easy to wear pajamas all the time! I'd love to hear how you care for yourself.Lorajean Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13852682235061991141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552973362315723906.post-75656449216607512032014-01-01T18:26:00.002-08:002014-01-01T19:29:35.799-08:00Happy New Year!New year, fresh start! 2013 proved to be busier and different than I ever could have dreamed. Frances Jean has been with us for 6 weeks now, but I don't quite remember a time with out her. Her brothers are keeping a close eye on her, and are always happy to jump in and help.
2. Craft in some way everyday. I've been following people on social media that are doing a make something everyday, so it's not just knitting or sewing, but also cooking. I'm going to focus on knitting, spinning, and sewing. It can be just 5 stitches knit, that is crafting. I want to take the time to do something with my hands every day.

3. Self-Care is my theme for 2014. Number 2 falls under this self care. I get so wrapped up in Knitted Wit work that I don't often take time for myself or really stop working. Having children, especially a new born, are helping me with this but I can do better. I plan on making an appointment tomorrow to see the chiropractor. I have no idea why it's so hard to make time in my day to take care of myself, but I always find time to watch my story! With parents aging and having kids I want to be healthy for the long haul. I also want to be an example that I am worth the time to take care of. I think that of other people, so I must believe it for myself.

So here's some proof. I wound up a ball and cast on. I've since done three rows, I'm up to 4 stitches. Watch out!

What goals are you setting for the new year? What is your tactic for following through?

I'm bringing color back! (Sung to a tune by Justin Timberlake.) I'm so excited to announce the newest Community Supported Yarn (CSY) Variegated!! Variegated yarn was my first love and what I originally started dyeing. As my production changed so did the ease of dyeing variegated. I'm happy to say I have found a way to make it efficient and consistent.

What does a share or membership get you? Three skeins over three months, starting in September. On the 15th of each month, September, October, November, I'll ship you a skein(s) of yarn. I'll be dyeing fingering weight yarn: Bling, Single Fingering, and Super Wash Merino Fingering. Each skein is large enough to make the average shawl or pair of socks. The total for this CSY is $81, with shipping in the US $9, Canada $23.10. International, please contact for pricing. With each shipment comes a love letter from me. The inspiration for the color, pattern recommendations and information about upcoming events.

What is Community Supported Yarn? As a small business owner it can take a little extra capital to get projects started and completed. By buying a share or membership, you are helping Knitted Wit grow. What will the CSY fund this round? It really depends on membership. To upgrade to doing variegated to a wholesale capacity, I need to invest $450 into equipment. Ten shares will make this happen!

But I'm aiming a little higher. After five years, my winder is not meeting the capacity of Knitted Wit's growth. What a great problem to have! I'm planning on upgrading to a winder that will wind six skeins at a time or rewind six at a time. This will be double what I am able to do now! In order to purchase the new winder, vertical swifts, and upgrade to variegated dyeing 50 shares need to sell.

This CSY is also limited to 50 shares. Knitted Wit is growing and I am limited in time and woman power to get it all done! Grab your share(s) quick before they sell out!Lorajean Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13852682235061991141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552973362315723906.post-29924519421463196242013-03-20T04:30:00.000-07:002013-03-20T04:30:05.494-07:00Happy Spring!

Are your needles ready? Mine are all warmed up and read to cast on Fiar! I hope you'll be joining me! I went with this color combination and I am uber excited about the glowing Haute Pink.

The yarn is all wound up, and in my giant boxy bag from A Needle Runs Through It. I've found that I really like the giant bags for growing projects, a lot less wrinkly! Oooh! Another thing I love, my Notability app on the ipad. I open all my pdf's in the app and I can write all over them and make notes. I'll be assigning codes to each color so I don't have to think about remembering what order I'm knitting the colors in.

What are a few of your tips and tricks to staying neat and tidy with your knitting? Do you prefer your patterns printed out and in a plastic sleeve? I could use every tip and trick you have!

Ready, set, cast on! Happy Spring and happy KAL!!!

They are 35 yards each, super wash merino, and perfect for all kinds of projects! Each set is 10 skeins for a total of 350 yards. Striped mittens are what I'm most excited to make. I found a pattern from Susan B. Anderson, written in a few sizes, and with a set of Gobstoppers I could make two pairs! Or what about this cute little skirt? The smallest size would be ridiculous in the Gal-entines Day colors! Maybe you enjoy color work? A set of the Gobstoppers if the perfect opportunity to add colors to your collection. Here are some awesome leg warmers that would work with the Treat Yourself set!
I certainly didn't mean for that much time to by! I have had my head down in the dye pots, or busy winding yarn into skeins, or busy rewinding dyed skeins into orderly skeins. Wow! I had a three day dye marathon, getting all the colors ready for TNNA. I leave at the end of January, but have a few orders, clubs, and life to live, I'm glad it's done! I think I have 50ish colors that I'm taking. I know. Crazy! I have almost all of them up on Flickr. I ran out of day light and might have to reshoot a few. Nothing like a grey winter day and trying to take accurate color pictures of yarn!

I also have all the colors, expect for the surprise variegated ones, ready for the Gal-entines Day mini skein sampler. Have you heard of Gal-entines day? Its celebrated February 13th, and it's all about ladies and their girlfriends. It's from Parks & Rec if it sounds familiar!

What have you been up to? What are some of your goals for 2013? I've been working through a few different work books, planning for a successful 2013. It feels great to take the time to make a plan! One of my goals was spinning and or knitting for 20 minutes every day. I'm off to make that happen!Lorajean Kelleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13852682235061991141noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3552973362315723906.post-85522217421206588022012-12-31T04:30:00.000-08:002012-12-31T04:30:02.442-08:00End of the Year Sale!

Sign up for 4 shipments of American made yarn and four beautiful patterns! I hope you'll join us on this adventure!

Today is the last day to sign up for CSY and receive an extra skein. Sign ups are open through December 15, but the free extra skein ends today! I'm so excited about CSY: Fingering Edition. I'm especially excited to try out a few new to me yarns and see if they stick.

I had an extra logo sticker so I decided to put it on the garage door and claim the space! I can't wait to have a more productive work space. Join CSY and help make that happen. The shop takes gift cards so don't hesitate to ask Santa! ; )
