Day One

Wow, OFFF is going great!  What a day.  It started off on the cold side but the sun popped up and it was beautiful.  I had a hard time staying put but I've stuck to my buying plan so far.  I might slip a little tomorrow if I stop at dicentra.  We'll see.  e had a great time and even managed a few naps. It was great seeing michele and some other visitors.  I'm terrible for no linkys and pics, but when we get back from the beach I think I'll have it together for a full report.  There are some major plans underway for Knitted Wit's future!

almost there

Thank goodness for smiling babies!  e is being such a trooper with my dyeing shenanigans.  Here is the rack drying after a marathon dye day over the last weekend.  I've been desperately trying to reskein everything for this weekend.  I haven't quite met my goal.  I'm okay with that though.  Lots of deep breaths.
Here is a sneak peak at the booth set up.  It's totally different now that I'm there.  I have a corner booth so things had to move around.  If you are going to OFFF I'm across from the bathrooms by the kettle corn.  I can hardly sleep.  Which is what I need to do right now.  I'm going to try and take lots of pics but be patient, I might not post for a few days!

bad blogger

I can't believe a week has already gone by!  I have been going like crazy trying to get ready for offf. Throw in a birthday party for E and working a real job the week evaporated!  On Wednesday we'll be doing a dress rehearsal for the booth.  Making sure to dot the t's cross the i's.  That sort of thing.  I'm very excited to tell you that I'll be accepting credit cards too!  I'm on my way out to run a few more errands on the ever growing list!

I'll be back Wednesday with pics!

What a Weekend!

Wow!  I'm glad to be home with e taking a nap!  We've been busy.  Early Saturday morning a friend arrived at the house from the airport with her mom.  They crashed out for a while after taking the red eye to pdx.  e decided to crash out too, not fair being the only one awake!  After everybody was fed we headed over to Green Sprouts Organic Baby Festival.  I had a great time checking out all the latest and greatest gadgets for raising a green baby.  I was able to find a diaper I want to invest in for using.  I've done a lot of research and this seams to have all the components I'm looking for, but we still need to test drive them.  Not to mention that some grandma's were at the festival!  What a great day.  Beautiful weather to make the whole thing perfect.

Then this morning we sang happy birthday to E and got ready to go to the knit/crochet show here in town.  This was a little painful on the pocket book, but really relaxing.  I'm contemplating having a booth there next year so this was a little research and development excursion.  (I can justify just about any yarn purchase!)  I did find some treasures and ran into some nice people and bloggers.  Everybody is so sweet to e, it takes some pressure off the entertaining part for me!  Northwest Wool was there and I was able to score some more of Sandy's fibers and she told me she would have the last scraps out in the store on wednesday, but you can't go an buy it before me!  I get first dibs!

I also happened to fall in to the sock club that I'm dyeing for.  It seems a little silly to buy into it but I'm really excited to own my color way and to see it all packaged together!  I'm really proud to be participating.  The first month was dyed by Koigu, and you can't go wrong with them.

In the side of the photo (there's no photo because they refused to load.  Sorry!) are some braids that I bought from Yummy Yarn.  I can't wait to spin these up!  I'm planning on getting one more (maybe two) bobbins from WooLee Winders and a lazy kate at OFFF.  I think that will make plying more managable.  Gosh I'm excited about the next two weeks!  I'm a little anxious about the weather.  It's been absolutely amazing and I hope it lasts through OFFF.

I hope your weekend was just as enjoyable, why don't you tell me about it?!

Back in Business

I thought that was a clever title to go with a picture I just realized I didn't take.  Dang it!  Here's all the ways I'm back in business:
1.  My order from Louet will arrive in time for me to dye for OFFF.
2.  While Louet had most the items on back order, Helen is letting me raid her stash of to-dye items!
3.  Michele showed me how to pick up the stitches on my blanket (that's the picture I was going to show you!) so I've been doing a row here and there.  I feel a little guilty that I should be knitting for the booth but you do what you can!
4.  Today was my first day back at work or should I say job.  I have a lot of emotions about this.  Mainly I feel lucky that I was able to stay home with him for so long!  E did great with e, there was plenty of milk in the fridge and I only cried two tears when they left me at work.

The love of my life just woke up hungry!  It's a pretty big day around here.  Getting over this mile stone of going back to work feels like a big weight lifted.

Gotta run.  next, a report from the knit/crochet show.  Sorry no linkage.

Betty, thanks for the love letter!  It was the perfect thing to come home to tonight!  i heart you!

shhh, he's sleeping

Sorry it's been so quite around here.  I've been a little busy with a teething baby.  We're still at two teeth but his gums are really soft.  We've been slowly figuring out his night schedule.  Nothing like taking a moment to listen to your child.  I felt like such a dumb-dumb.  In the midst of all this I go to work the next two fridays.  Kind of dipping my toes in the water.  I've been a little nervous but E and e are going to do great.  And they can always come visit me if they need to!  I love the flexible job!

Speaking of work.  I worked my little tush off yesterday!  I dyed about 25 pounds of wool.  That is a personal record.  I had two rounds of babysitters and e did great for everybody.  Mild fussiness with poor napping, but still happy all around.  I think the fiber and yarn turned out pretty good too.  I'm hoping for one more major dye day when I get my shipment of wool.  Cross your fingers it gets here in time.  I'm a little nervous it's going to get here to late for OFFF, but at least I'll have stuff here to dye either way.  I'm sure I have enough to make the booth look nice, but I want to have a big enough selection for everybody.

We continued to paint the display pieces, I love how the colors turned out.  E has also been airbrushing the bags and they look fantastic.  Not too homemade, but still stylish and funky! I'm so excited to put the whole booth together.
Helen made this little jumper and it is so sweet!  We had a very hard time getting a picture of e with out him wiggling so much!  I think he's looking at the dog.  He giggles when ever he sees Jake, it's pretty cute!  He's taking a nap now and I think I only have a few more minutes before he awakes and the grandmas arrive!  More pics to come of all the dyed wool!

Some Progress

I use a great display board, you might have noticed it in the picture from the market, a painted peg board that's framed.  Well I needed a few more of those for OFFF.  So we got the fixin's to make more.  e was a fantastic supervisor!  He likes to oversee major projects like these.  And Betty, there I am with him!  We're getting closer to having e and me in a picture!  Have I told you he has two teeth now?  That's right, two!  He'll be four months old a week from today!
One more coat of paint will finish up the task.  A few things are left on the list for making the booth shine.  I'm planning on putting the booth up at home to give it a run and move things around.  You'll get to see some preview shots here!  I can't wait to show you all the ideas I have!

I was able to get some dyeing done yesterday, I thought I'd work on labor day!  I'm really happy with how the fiber turned out.  It's hard to go back and forth between the fiber and yarn.  Yarn can be treated pretty hard, while the fiber is fragile.  But I don't think anything felted and the fiber is uber fluffy!
I have to tell you a sad story now.  I was trying to buy a bunch of roving from an etsy seller and somebody else beat me to it!  Grrr.  I know it's not that sad, but it is a little.

The market went great by the way!  I had lots of visitors, sold some of my favorite things, and great friends checked in!   Things to look forward to next time: more dyeing!, hopefully printed bags, and I'm sure a cute picture of e!
