Community Supported Yarn: Variegated

I'm bringing color back! (Sung to a tune by Justin Timberlake.) I'm so excited to announce the newest Community Supported Yarn (CSY) Variegated!! Variegated yarn was my first love and what I originally started dyeing. As my production changed so did the ease of dyeing variegated. I'm happy to say I have found a way to make it efficient and consistent.

What does a share or membership get you? Three skeins over three months, starting in September. On the 15th of each month, September, October, November, I'll ship you a skein(s) of yarn. I'll be dyeing fingering weight yarn: Bling, Single Fingering, and Super Wash Merino Fingering. Each skein is large enough to make the average shawl or pair of socks. The total for this CSY is $81, with shipping in the US $9, Canada $23.10. International, please contact for pricing. With each shipment comes a love letter from me. The inspiration for the color, pattern recommendations and information about upcoming events.

What is Community Supported Yarn? As a small business owner it can take a little extra capital to get projects started and completed. By buying a share or membership, you are helping Knitted Wit grow. What will the CSY fund this round? It really depends on membership. To upgrade to doing variegated to a wholesale capacity, I need to invest $450 into equipment. Ten shares will make this happen!

But I'm aiming a little higher. After five years, my winder is not meeting the capacity of Knitted Wit's growth. What a great problem to have! I'm planning on upgrading to a winder that will wind six skeins at a time or rewind six at a time. This will be double what I am able to do now! In order to purchase the new winder, vertical swifts, and upgrade to variegated dyeing 50 shares need to sell.

This CSY is also limited to 50 shares. Knitted Wit is growing and I am limited in time and woman power to get it all done! Grab your share(s) quick before they sell out!

Happy Spring!

Are your needles ready? Mine are all warmed up and read to cast on Fiar! I hope you'll be joining me! I went with this color combination and I am uber excited about the glowing Haute Pink.
The yarn is all wound up, and in my giant boxy bag from A Needle Runs Through It. I've found that I really like the giant bags for growing projects, a lot less wrinkly! Oooh! Another thing I love, my Notability app on the ipad. I open all my pdf's in the app and I can write all over them and make notes. I'll be assigning codes to each color so I don't have to think about remembering what order I'm knitting the colors in.

What are a few of your tips and tricks to staying neat and tidy with your knitting? Do you prefer your patterns printed out and in a plastic sleeve? I could use every tip and trick you have!

Ready, set, cast on! Happy Spring and happy KAL!!!

Gobstoppers!

New in the shop are worsted weight mini skeins, Gobstoppers! They are 35 yards each, super wash merino, and perfect for all kinds of projects! Each set is 10 skeins for a total of 350 yards. Striped mittens are what I'm most excited to make. I found a pattern from Susan B. Anderson, written in a few sizes, and with a set of Gobstoppers I could make two pairs! Or what about this cute little skirt? The smallest size would be ridiculous in the Gal-entines Day colors! Maybe you enjoy color work? A set of the Gobstoppers if the perfect opportunity to add colors to your collection. Here are some awesome leg warmers that would work with the Treat Yourself set!

Of course, Gumballs, or fingering weight mini skeins are still happening. I just found this fun little striped cowl, I think I'll be making this with the Gal-entines Day set! How cute are these mitts for the Treat Yourself colors! Super fun!!!

Happy New Year!

Whoops! I certainly didn't mean for that much time to by! I have had my head down in the dye pots, or busy winding yarn into skeins, or busy rewinding dyed skeins into orderly skeins. Wow! I had a three day dye marathon, getting all the colors ready for TNNA. I leave at the end of January, but have a few orders, clubs, and life to live, I'm glad it's done! I think I have 50ish colors that I'm taking. I know. Crazy! I have almost all of them up on Flickr. I ran out of day light and might have to reshoot a few. Nothing like a grey winter day and trying to take accurate color pictures of yarn!

I also have all the colors, expect for the surprise variegated ones, ready for the Gal-entines Day mini skein sampler. Have you heard of Gal-entines day? Its celebrated February 13th, and it's all about ladies and their girlfriends. It's from Parks & Rec if it sounds familiar!

What have you been up to? What are some of your goals for 2013? I've been working through a few different work books, planning for a successful 2013. It feels great to take the time to make a plan! One of my goals was spinning and or knitting for 20 minutes every day. I'm off to make that happen!
